Turns out Canada also has this on the 11th November, and as Ottawa is the capital it was a fantastic memorial service.
It had everything:
Prince Charles and his sidekick Camilla
War Veterans of all types and ages
Overhead Aircraft fly-overs
MASSIVE real artillery shells
Canadian Mounties
fantastic Choral and Bagpipe music
and much more...
It was a very sombre occasion and was kinda nippy,... although as I was about to find out nothing compared to December weather - oh no. The were massive crowds and the procession was great with representatives of all the Canadian divisions and regiments, the speeches were in both french and english which I liked because I can't understand all the english stuff. They took security very seriously, oh and who knew Prince Charles had a position in the Canadian army? he had his full uniform on, apparently he is the Vice-Admiral of the Canadian Maritime Forces (the navy for those who don't know what that means). He had a rather impressive display on, and he has numerous titles as he also the Lieutenant-General of the Army, incredible huh?
Anyway the whole spectacle was fantastic. Well worth the visit.
